History of APON
The Asia-Pacific Otology/Neurotology meetings in Otology/Neurotology since their inception have promoted our better understanding and the advances in the medical and surgical management of ear related disorders. They began when former fellows who had studied at the University of Toronto decided they had a need to "pass on" what they had learned to their colleagues at home. The meetings have since evolved into a regional showcase with international acclaim where each hosting country can proudly show to the world what they have accomplished in ear related medicine. The international scope of these meetings since the inaugural meetings in Bangkok have included other significant world centers such as Singapore, Dubai and Penang, Malaysia. The 7th Asia-Pacific Meeting in Tehran in May 2016 will prove no exception and will continue to fulfill the goal of the organizers. It promises to be the most important meeting yet in a country that has been recognized historically as one of the "cradles of civilization" for the past 2,500 years. Please join us in what will be a truly remarkable event.
